Unlike most of the team here, my family did not introduce me to all things automotive – quite the opposite, with a Dad whose favourite thing about a car is listening to the radio, and who can’t be bothered to change gear – favouring fourth even at 5 mph pulling away from a junction. So it wasn’t until my first job in the industrial sector that I really noticed engines, and soon was explaining the range and power span of anything from boats to mining equipment, to anyone who would listen. Geek. A few years, jobs and two babies later and I am still impressed with the sector. As long as I don’t try to explain it to my Dad...
