When I was still riding around in a buggy, my mum would read the name plates of every car en-route to collect my older sister from school – so I blame her for my somewhat encyclopaedic knowledge of all things four-wheeled! I started thinking about a career in the automotive sector in my early teens and landed my first stint of work experience at Top Gear at the age of 17. My first driving experience was around a field in a 1970s Range Rover at the age of 14 and the novelty has never worn off. Hitting 170mph at Bruntingthorpe in a Noble M400 still ranks as my all-time favourite motoring moment, but somewhat hypocritically, I’m also a proponent of greener vehicles, having driven hybrids, bio-fuel cars and even the ‘priceless’ BMW Hydrogen 7-Series.
