APR America gives media boost to SMS Supercars |
Among APR’s prestigious clients around the world, California-based SMS Supercars stands out. Not only because of their impressive products, which so far comprise of the SMS 570 Challenger launched by APR last year, and the SMS 302 and SMS 460 Mustang, but also because APR has been chosen as the exclusive representative of SMS Supercars’ worldwide PR requirements.
Formed and run by legendary racer, entrepreneur and automotive icon, Steve Saleen, SMS Supercars was formed in 2007 after Mr. Saleen’s departure from his former company Saleen Inc., which has since ceased operations. Steve has branched out from his landmark Mustang models he has been building for more than 25 years into offering no less than all three of the famed US Muscle Cars as SMS models. The third car in the line-up, the SMS 620 Camaro, is expected to come to market later this year.
After a successful launch of the SMS 570 Challenger at the New York Auto Show in April of 2009, APR’s US operation, which runs the SMS account, was asked to organise the press launch of the long awaited SMS 302 Mustang. On April 16th, one day before the Mustang anniversary, celebrated each year on April 17th, APR America President, Axel E. Catton, and Steve Saleen welcomed a group of esteemed motoring writers to the impressive SMS Headquarters in Corona, CA, about one hour east of Los Angeles.
In addition to the ‘usual suspects’ when it comes to motoring media, what the Americans call the ‘buff books’, Steve’s heightened interest obviously lies with the specialist magazines for Mustang and Ford models, Challengers and the performance media market. Steve Saleen commented, “I have chosen to work with APR as they have been able to not only get me the coverage I require for making my company stand out, but also because Axel’s experience and advice have been crucial in satisfying the media demands and creating effective media campaigns.”
