Stadco, an international Tier 1 supplier of automotive Body-in-White products and services, has been showcasing its CO2 reduction initiatives from east to west, with a keynote presentation at the Automotive Manufacturing Solutions conference in Pune, India, followed by a reception at Downing Street with the Prime Minister and other senior government figures.

Paul Jaggers, Director of Global Product Development Operations for Stadco, spoke to the AMS conference about the company’s efforts in reducing CO2 emissions by using lightweight body structures and R&D into cleaner manufacturing. Stadco is an expert in lightweight structural design and manufacturing lightweight and mixed material vehicles assemblies and structures.

Following the conference, Paul attended a Downing Street reception to showcase UK innovation in helping to create a global low carbon economy. Stadco has product development capabilities located in both Europe and India and is involved in numerous collaborative R&D projects to reduce weight, cost and vehicle carbon emissions

Lord Davies, Minister for Trade, Investment and Small Business, said: “The UK’s lead in this area makes us well-placed to secure new business overseas and act as a global hub for low carbon products, services and technologies. Government and business are working together to market the UK’s unique strengths and capabilities in this area.”

As an international supplier, Stadco stands to benefit from the global market for low carbon goods and services, which is already worth over £3 trillion and is expected to exceed £4.5 trillion by 2015.

The UK market for low carbon goods and services is worth around £107bn and is set to grow to more than £150bn by 2015, with manufacturing making up over 30 percent of this activity.
